Data Life-Cycle Management Poster
A poster introducing a solution for the long-term preservation of research data, with an open and modular architecture compliant with the ISO 14721 OAIS Reference Model, integrated with the research data life-cycle and backed with multiple Swiss data centers, allowing researchers to safely manage, publish and archive their data. It won the Best Poster Award at OAI11, the CERN-UNIGE Workshop on Innovations in Scholarly Communication on 19-21 June 2019 in Geneva, and the #2 Poster Audience Award at iPRES 2019, the 16th International Conference on Digital Preservation on 16-20 September 2019 in Amsterdam. It was also presented at the

Skills used
The project involved merging different concepts in a design-conscious poster, pairing complicated concepts with uncomplicated city elements to create a colorful and playful isometric road map. The idea was originally borne as a series of slides explaining theories like research data life-cycle (by ETHZ Library/DLCM, CC-BY-SA), OAIS-compliant infrastructure, storage replication, metadata schemes and standards (by Hugues Cazeaux, CTO of the DLCM project), risks associated with preservation versus backup (by Pierre-Yves Burgi, Director of the DLCM project). Aside from the print poster, an electronic version (presentation) was produced, along with a stop-motion animated video containing other details highlighting the journey of the researchers and their data using the services. A license was negotiated to use the remix cover of Prayer In C by 8 Bit Universe in the video, and an accompanying scientific article was written to submit the poster to various conferences.
